Officially called the Flavian Amphitheater, but much better known as the Colosseum, it is the most emblematic symbol of Rome and its glorious past. We will guide you inside to admire the arena where gladiators and wild animals fought to the death and explore the intricacies of how such a magnificent structure functioned. You will walk through the Arch of Constantine until reaching the Roman Forum, the cultural and political center of the Ancient Rome, the capital city of the Roman Empire.
The Basilica of Saint Clement, located about 300 meters beyond the Colosseum, is a three-level structure where you will be surrounded by the precious architectural and pictorial remains. Your guide will illustrate the history and the function of the Mithraeum, the early Christian Baptistery, the Imperial mint and the earliest proves of the Italian language.
