Pompeii

Pompeii

This ancient city is one of the most significant cites of Roman civilization. It serves as an open book, providing outstanding information on the art, customs, trades and everyday life of the past. Pompeii has surfaced from the darkness of centuries exactly as it would have been when it was unexpectedly buried in the thick layer of ash and lava which poured down from the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 A.D. Today, Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy.

Villa dei Misteri

Villa dei Misteri

Named after the hall of mysteries located in the residential part of the building, the Villa of the Mysteries is distinguished by the presence of one of the best preserved ancient paintings. The painting features a large continuous fresco that covers three walls and that depicts a mysterious rite reserved for the devotees of the cult. The villa also includes an area intended for the production of wine with a rebuilt wooden press.
