kid-friendly tour

You will experience a fantastic tour of the Florence Duomo and admire the beautiful city accompanied by our expert tour guide.

Starting from the majestic Duomo of Florence, known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its famous red dome it is the symbol of this glorious city and no trip to Florence can be complete without passing through its sacred bronze doors. We will take you inside to admire the interior of the cathedral that appears surprisingly bare since most of the works of art that adorned it have been moved to the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo.

Despite this, you can still admire splendid frescoes, up to 44 stained glass windows and the excavations of the remains of the basilica of Santa Reparata which was located under the cathedral. Within the Cathedral complex is the Baptistery of San Giovanni and Giotto’s bell tower, from which you can admire a magnificent panorama.

Florence Duomo

Florence Duomo

Florence Cathedral, formally known as Santa Maria del Fiore or even better as the Duomo, is the third largest church in the world. It was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio in the Gothic style, but it was structurally completed by 1436 with the famous red dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. It was named after its dedication to Santa Maria del Fiore, the Virgin of the Flower, which took place in 1412 and is a clear reference to the lily, the symbol of the city of Florence.

Opera del Duomo Museum

Opera del Duomo Museum

Founded in 1891 but radically renovated in 2015, the Museum was conceived as an educational path to discover the places and artists who gave life to the monumental complex of the Opera, the cradle of the Renaissance. Today it is one of the most important museums in the world thanks to the incredible concentration of faith, art and history.

Baptistery of San Giovanni

Baptistery of San Giovanni

The Baptistery of San Giovanni sits just opposite the city's cathedral, the church of Santa Maria del Fiore. Octagonal in shape, this fascinating structure is completely covered in slabs of white Carrara and green Prato marble. It is renowned for its three sets of artistically important bronze doors with relief sculptures made by Andrea Pisano and Lorenzo Ghiberti, whose originals are held at the Opera del Duomo Museum.
